2°) More informations on these sculptures:
The question of fashion naturally joined up with the research that I had done with assemblages of wood, first with birds, and then with dancers … All it took was adding all kinds of clothing to humanize these animals.
The transition happened naturally smoothly, and the clothes perfectly complement this continuous play on appearances that we display, first unintentionally with the head and general aspect, then with the flying banners which we unfailingly add to distinguish us from others, and make us always more attractive.
The complete series included twenty sculptures, and I was very fortunate to be able to show it for the first time at the Brussels Museum of Spontaneous Art in January 2012. The exhibition was entitled: “Humans also swoon and pluck themselves ”. It was made in collaboration with a Brussels association of fashion named “DIVERS’GENTES” (a word play meaning various genres and divergencies).
