Men and machines

In the summer of 1996, I had in mind a new series of characters which I absolutely wanted to talk. And the underlying idea of this new series was also me make a mockery of this human contention with regard to all these more or less strange machines that have staked this 'Advanced' of men to an arrogant modernity.

What better way to irony than to seek inspiration in the trash. I've gathered around me everything that I could find more extravagant or unusual. I proceeded by making combinations of shapes and color. The machines have arisen of imagination according to these discoveries and unexpected associations.

It is on this occasion that I discovered all the creative richness that could get out of the recovery of materials. I came with specific ideas of human characters, and chance had made me divert to other subjects of reflection. These assemblages of materials had opened the door of the unconscious. All these "slip-ups" have emerged me as essential in the very process of creation. It is from this year that we started to put me in the category of "singular artists."
